he
name Tramacastilla comes from the roman period when it was called
Trambacastiella "between castles" and refers to the mountains
Santa Marina, San Durico y la Pinada. From this the actual name
has eventually developed.
Tramacastilla
de Tena is situated between two famous rocks, peña
Telera y peña Blanca , which overlook a valley
and the reservoir Búbal and is surrounded by fields and forests.
In the village Tramacastilla de Tena you'll find houses, huts and
barns, which have been looked after with great care and dedication,
making it a pleasant experience to stroll through its narrow streets.
The
Roman church
(XII century), under the patron St. Martin, features a renaissance
altarpiece of the XVI century. Administratively it belongs to the
town hall of Sallent de Gállego and formed part of the ancient
Quiñon de La Partacua.
The
proximity to the new ski resort, La Partacua, permits cross-country
skiing. This resort also serves as departure point for the annual
competition with dog sleighs. From the village it is possible to
undertake numerous excursions or to walk through the forest of Betato,
which is close by.
